From 9th to 11th of September 2011 Media Development Center, Sofia (MDC) in partnership with the South East Europe Media Program of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Sofia (KAS) conducted the third seminar for this year. The seminar “The Future of the EU: Regional Decisions and Global Challenges“ was aimed at enhancing the professional competence of the participants on the EU current challenges, solutions and perspectives. Through presentations and open dialogue between colleagues the event gave opportunity to 16 representatives of the Bulgarian and Macedonian national media to enlarge their knowledge about EU policies and recent trends, about German and Bulgarian views in the field and to discuss the perspectives for integration of the Balkan countries into European Union. The event also contributed to better understanding and establishing of cross-border working relations between colleagues. The topics presented at the seminar were: • EU enlargement: Perspective for the Western Balkans. The question with Turkey • The Future of the EU – a strategic look forward. The Relations with Russia. The Financial Crisis and the Euro • Current issues of Bulgarian Foreign Policy with Focus on EU and South East Europe • The Role of the Media in the EU Integration Process. The Freedom of the Media
