DSC02045On 25 February, 2016 the Media Development Center in partnership with held training on creating content for the Web. Beneficiaries of the training were 15 students from various specialties. The training is part of a project named “Stability and development of the team, belonging to SOM – student online media, and created for writing on gender subjects”, which aims to attract attention and raise awareness among young people on the topic of gender equality. During the training were discussed topics such as working hours and workflow in newsrooms of online media,  responsibilities of journalists, genres of journalistic texts for online media, language and news, lead and structure of news, ethics and editorial principles. citizen journalism“There is no journalism without journalists”, said Ioana Avadani, Executive Director of The Center for Independent Journalism (Romania) and project coordinator of the SEE Partnership for Media Development.

A crowded and rather poor media market, unable to secure the sustainability of media operations, a high level of job insecurity making the journalists vulnerable to political and economic pressures and – more often than not – leading to self-censorship – are some of the conclusions of the Regional report on the Employment Conditions of Journalists in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia launched by the Center for Independent Journalism in Bucharest, Media Development Center Sofia and other professional organisations in the region, to mark May 3 – World Press Freedom Day.

South-East European Partnership for Media Development project entered second phase

021915 Partnerstvo za razvoj medija SEE 28South East European Media Partnership program continued with a steering committee meeting, held in Belgrade on 19 February. Representatives of the partners in the project gathered to analyze the achievements so far as well as the next activities scheduled in the region. The meeting was organized with the kind support of the Serbian partners: Media Center Belgrade and Media Reform Center Nis.
